Falling

You stand there in your stiff, bold stature, barely moving, hardly showing signs of breathing.
All your intriguing parts, twists, turns, your colors within that bleed outward.
You canopy, stretch lengthy, hover over, marking your territory,
though it's not really yours.
You burrow in, reach downward, feel your way to a rooted state.
Each season closer to light your outer shell falls more than the last.

This time, even though you stand, you now stand bare.

  1. Emily,

Nice to meet you. I'm hopping over from the IP link up. Thanks for the Greek word lesson at the beginning there about phero photos. So interesting to see how language brings words alive.

An autumn tree is one of God's best masterpieces, huh?

    Have a great week, Emily.
