Offering

Could I sketch you a smile?
hold the hourglass horizontal
leave yesterday’s dust on shelves
tomorrows clouds in glass jars

Today
whistles with the kettle
drips honey on peanut butter
crackles ice in crystal

Today
taps to the lettered-keyboard
wisps turning pages
nubs noses in Eskimo-kisses

Today
rolls boys in front-yard grass
bops curls on toddlers
scuffles feet on wood floors

Today
eases amber over heaven
climbs wild through the Red Oak
simmers to a savory stove

Today
gathers family at tables
wets wine on the tongue
breaks bread like communion

Today
Passes like the plate on Sunday
